Roger Cantin, his a self-tought painter, born in Québec city in 1930. His work is impulsive and spontaneous. When an idea comes to him, always simple, never picturesque, he concretizes it on the canvas with an astonishing control of forms and colours. He particularly like the Québec houses that he draw with a point of melancholic softness. His tender heat colours lets see a paste alive and diluted without excess. Walk in his landscapes, stop on a rock or in front of a house painted in grey, and recreate by vaporous skies the atmosphere of the countryside. In his paintings, the blue tones and the ground colours create great tenderness in opposition with refined white. We feel all the softness of a man in total communion with the landscapes, the sky, and the earth. All here is meditation and love. |
