Mario Mauro - Back to the list

Mario Mauro was born on September, 1920, in Rivignano, Italy. He showed interest in painting at a very early age. At 14, he studied drawing, mosaic and painting at the Spillibergo Academy. Four years later, he enrolled at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. His studies over, he had barely no time to began his artistic career before the army called him to war. He settled in Québec in 1950, and was at first interested by religious art. For 17 years, he worked in several Canadian provinces producing frescoes and mosaic works and stained-glass windows for churches. Captivated by the beauty of a landscape, he spent hours painting it. The Charlevoix area particularly inspired him. Mario Mauro has held several solo exhibitions, including in Québec city, Montréal, and Ottawa.

His works can be found in many public and private collections in Canada and the United States.

He died in 1985.
