Claude Noël - Back to the list

Claude Noël was born in Abitibi Quebec, in 1949. He lived his first ten years in the cradle of the wild and inspiring nature.

Having lived for the next six years in Lanaudière, he moves definitely to Montreal at sixteen where, while he's engaged in classical studies, he takes art classes with well known Frère Gérôme.

Having graduated in litterature and linguistics, he will teach from 1972 to 2006. While teaching, he works with oil, acrylics and watercolor. He was President of the Canadian Watercolor Association from 2003 to 2006. Since 2005, he is mostly interested in oil painting.

Generally, Noël's paintings show landscapes sometimes strewn with human presence. He explores the colour's capacity to express different atmospheres in a style where new textures and compositions allow at the same time realistc references and non-figurative representations.
