Claude A. Simard was born on the 9th of July, 1943, in Quebec City. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. From 1962 to 1966, he studied grahic design at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto. He was head of Communications and Design at Simons Stores, in Quebec City, from 1966 to 1973. He founded the Communikart Design Group in 1973 and head-ed that compagny during the eleven following years. From 1982 to 2001, Simard was professor at Laval University, Arts Faculty, communication and design program. Simard has painted murals for the Imperial Oil Compagny and Parks Canada, among others. He has created eight stamps for Canada Post. Hallmark has published a collection of 48 cards by Simard and his work has appeared on the cover of Reader’s Digest and Selection several times. |
